With voltage settings for eight battery types and two equalize settings, the VICT-40 is a high capacity, MPPT solar controller for 12 or 24
volt systems. It also comes complete with
a remote temperature sensor, protects against over current, short circuit, reverse polarity and has a low voltage disconnect.
HOW DOES MPPT WORK? (MAXIMUM POWER POINT
TRACKING)
With changes in irradiance (amount of sunlight) and
temperature, a solar panel will produce different amounts of
power (amps) at a particular voltage. By analysing the panel output and
combining this with the voltage
of the battery that is receiving the charge, it is possible to calculate the
best power output for maximum charge. These conditions change constantly
throughout the day, therefore the ideal charging conditions will also vary. Monitoring
and determining the best power output is referred to as maximum power point tracking
(MPPT). Standard pulse-width modulation (PWM) regulators output at a pre-set voltage
only. This means that a large amount of power may be lost through your solar system. MPPT controller
technology increases charging efficiency by 10 to 40% over standard PWM regulators.
